Knowing where and how your food is grown and produced leads to a happier lifestyle, creative cooking, and more people around the table.

In a time when huge conglomerate companies produce the vast majority of the food in our country, and product recalls are a daily event, a new refreshing food movement is gaining strength. Consumers are realizing the wisdom of knowing the people that produce their daily meals. Come with us to see the local farmers that produce food with the consumer’s health in mind.

Our tour will visit three local farms that produce wholesome, healthy foods. First we will visit, a Jersey dairy operation owned by Kevin Sweeney, then travel to Mt Airy Beef, where a herd of Texas Longhorn cattle is raised 100% on grass, by Ben and Katrina Carpenter. The tour will return to Somerset for lunch at the quaint and historical Clay Haus Restaurant. After lunch we will visit Somerset Herbs owned by Rick Myers and Margaret Wince, where we will view their greenhouse operation and shiitake mushroom growing logs.
