OWR Snapshot: Greendale Wetlands

on

Note: In an ongoing series of short day-trips throughout the OWR region, our own Grant Joy shares some thoughts and photos:

Greendale Wetlands is located along St. Route 595, 3.8 miles south of New Straitsville. Greendale Wetlands encompass around 20 acres and is a great spot to view wildlife and birding. There is a small nature trail that follows the old railroad bed along the eastern edge of the wetlands. The wetland was created between a partnership with the National Audubon Society and the Wayne National Forest. Greendale Wetlands sits where the community of Greendale once stood that played an important role in the area’s brick making during the early part of the 1900s.
