In an ongoing series, our own Grant Joy has been traveling throughout the OWR region on short day-trips to find and share its natural beauty:

Sand Run is located off of Dawley Rd, from St. Route 278, just north of Carbon Hill. Sand Run Picnic Area offers a very scenic location to enjoy a picnic. It is a nice spot to hear the wind reverberate around the beautiful, stately stands of Pines. The Pines themselves offers a spectacular view and are nestled around a little pond. Sand Run makes for a nice quit retreat and is a great place for contemplation and tranquility.
