Christmas Rocks State Nature Preserve, located in southern Fairfield County, just recently opened up to the public:

As you make your way to the preserve, you will follow a gravel road that will turn to grass, going past an old farmstead and wooden barn. The preserve features Christmas Rock Loop trail and the Jacob Ladder’s loop totaling around 4 miles all-together. Both hikes are very wooded and feature good views of the surrounding foothills. I would encourage taking the Christmas Rock Loop to the northernmost section of the preserve, before looping back around and then heading up to Jacob’s Ladder. Jacob’s Ladder offers a great view of the surrounding Appalachian foothills.
