All Ohio Contemporary Ceramics Competition and Show

With major support from the Ohio Arts Council, Appalachian Hills of Ohio Territory (AHOOT) invites all Ohio ceramists (includes anyone who was born in, lived in, worked in, attended school in Ohio or is submitting an Ohio- themed work to this competition) to enter one piece only in a $5000 competition with a $2500 first prize, $1000 second prize, $500 third prize, two $250 honorable mention prizes and a $500 artists’ award selected by attending artists. This new biennial competition alternates with the prestigious Zanesville Prize for Contemporary Ceramics. The All Ohio Contemporary Ceramics Competition judge is Christine Golden of Flagstaff, Arizona, winner of the first Zanesville Prize ($20,000).
Entries must be mostly of clay and created in 2015 or 2016. They may be functional or sculptural and fit a 20” by 20” floor space or pedestal top or hang on a wall. All works are to be delivered in person from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. on Friday, October 7th, to the Yan Sun Art Museum at 604 Main Street in Zanesville where photos will be taken of the ceramists and their entries and published the next day in the Show’s Catalog. If you cannot attend, email us by September 15th with the name of the registered entrant bringing your work, fee and a picture of yourself to be taken with the photo your work.
To enter the Competition, please register with your name and cell phone # at register@ahoot.org. The entry fee is due to AHOOT on 10/7. The fee schedule is the following: $15 until August 27, $25 until September 15; and $35 after September15. The entry fee includes free admission to the catered Award Ceremony at 6 P.M. on Saturday at the Yan Sun Art Museum. All entries will be for sale with a commission of 30% to AHOOT.
All works will be offered for reserve purchase from 5 until 10 P.M. on Friday evening and Saturday from 9 until 10 and may be claimed by purchasers after the Award Ceremony to which they are invited. Ceramists may take their unsold work with them after the Award ceremony on Saturday or keep unsold work for sale from 9 until 5 on Sunday. A limited number of All Ohio Catalogs with photos taken Friday will be available for $15 (cost) on Saturday at Yan Sun Art Museum.

The All Ohio Contemporary Ceramics Competition & Show welcomes ceramists to gather and share the excitement of artistry in clay. The $5000 is OK, too.
