Whether you’re looking to make rather than buy your Christmas gifts this year, need to get a gift for someone who’s hard to shop for, or you’d just like to learn a new hobby for the new year, you won’t regret spending a day up-cycling in Shawnee, OH.Don Turner worked as an industrial arts teacher, and since retiring, he continues to make unique, handmade items from found materials, many of which can be seen in the Winding Road Marketplace and around Southeast Ohio. Some of his pieces include Lake Eerie driftwood lamps, real silver flatware wind chimes, recycled bottle hummingbird feeders, and many other items made from re-purposed local wood.

Continuing the tradition of Appalachian ingenuity that produced a variety of ways to use Ohio’s abundant clay deposits, people around the region are using available materials to create unique, local products that tell the story of their place. The Winding Road is all about finding new ways for local people to tell those stories. Come learn more about up-cycling and the goals of the Winding Road December 2 from 10 am to 4 pm.
