OWR SNAPSHOT: Gifford State Forest

on

In an ongoing series, we are traveling throughout the OWR region on short day-trips to find and share its natural beauty. Today’s post comes from Audrey Tompkins:

Located just between Amesville and Chesterhill, the Gifford State Forest is the smallest state forest in Ohio. The 320-acre area features hiking trails, a breeding nursery, and forested hills. The two hiking trails, Vista Trail (1.5 miles) and Indian Stone Trail (2.3 miles), offer gorgeous scenery and great workouts. The dense forest is littered with large boulders and stones, as well as towering stone cliffs that cover the hillsides. While the paths are steep and the forest is thick, Gifford State Forest always makes for a great adventure.
